Ni-200

Ni-200, also known as pure Nickel, is a vaping coil wire that is a cheap and easy option for vapers to use. Some say that Ni-200 is a great wire for temperature control devices, yet some say that it is a difficult wire to work with. Ni-200 is quite a springy and soft material, meaning that it can be difficult and time consuming to work with compared to metals such as Titanium and Kanthal. It is also important to note that nickel is a allergen that could be problematic for some vapers.

Here at Vapestreams, we have Ni-200 wire products available such as our UD Nickel NI200 vape coil wire. At an affordable price, this 30ft length vape coil wire is a great option for vapers to use.

Pros

Cons

Fast ramp-up time
Cheaper to use
Nickel is a known allergen
Doesn’t hold shape well

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is another metal that is often used for vaping coil wires. As relatively new product on the market, stainless steel is starting to become widely used in the vaping world. With a fast ramp-up time, this high-functioning metal can be used for both wattage and temperature control if the vape mod supports it. Compared with other coil wires like titanium, stainless steel is a stronger and easier vape coil metal to work with. With minimal springiness, stainless steel makes building much easier.

We stock stainless steel products on our website such as the Flatwire UK – Stainless Steel flat vape coil wire. Made in the UK, this 10ft vape coil is the perfect building accessory for vapers.

Pros

Cons

Easy to work with
Fast ramp-up time
Some types are difficult to work with
Some types feature a high Nickel content

Kanthal

After Ni-Chrome was introduced, Kanthal was another vape coil metal that started to become popular in the vaping industry. Its wide availability and various gauge sizes meant that Kanthal fast became a favourite with coil builders worldwide. With a good ramp-up time and being an easy material to work with, it is a great choice for beginners who are interested in building coils. The difference between this metal and Ni-Chrome is that Kanthal has both a higher operating temperature and higher melting temperature, meaning that is has a longer lifespan than Ni-Chrome.

At Vapestreams, we supply Kanthal wire for our customers like our Flatwire UK – Kanthal ‘Flapton’ vape coil wire. This 10ft Kanthal wire is perfect for coil builders starting their next project.

Pros

Cons

Easy to work with
Holds shape well
Can’t be used for temp control
Slow ramp-up time

Ni-Chrome

Ni-Chrome (Nickel-Chromium) is a metal that dates back as far as the early 1900s. It was at this point in history where it was discovered that Nickel-Chromium had anti-oxidising properties. This meant that the metal could not be damaged or worn, therefore it could withstand high levels of heat. Ni-Chrome also takes very little time to heat up meaning that it is a perfect metal to use for vaping coils. While they both have similar features, Ni-Chrome heats quicker, but Kanthal lasts longer.  It is also important to note that if you are allergic to Nickel, it may be best to consider using Kanthal coils instead as they do not contain any Nickel.

Flatwire UK – NiChrome ‘Flapton’ vape coil wire is one of our Ni-Chrome products that we sell on our website. With a quick heat up time, this 10ft vape wire is perfect for all of your vaping needs.

Pros

Cons

Easy to work with
Fast ramp-up time
Contains Nickel
Lower melting point

Titanium

Titanium is another great metal that is often used for vaping coil wires. Compared with Ni-200, titanium is not only stronger but also has a higher resistance, meaning that is much easier material to work with. While titanium wire may be strong and hold it’s shape well, one of the main concerns is that this material can heat up to the point of ignition. At extremely high temperatures, Titanium Dioxide can form which can be harmful if inhaled over a long period of time. If you notice any white powder around your coil, dispose of it immediately and wrap a new coil. If in any doubt, it is always better and safer to use a new coil.

On our online store we have titanium products available such as the UD Titanium vape coil wire. Made in China, this 30ft coil is a great product for vapers to use.

Pros

Cons

Holds shape well
Strong material
Dioxide risk at high temperatures
Can ignite at high temperatures
